My story
Hi, I'm Amal Mohammad Kasim, a UX Designer based in Toronto with a background in Psychology and Autism and Behavioural Science. Growing up in Saudi Arabia with Indian parents from different regions, I was immersed in a blend of languages, cultures, and perspectives. This multicultural foundation shaped my values of empathy, inclusivity, and open-minded curiosity — all of which influence my approach to design today.
My journey into UX design began with a deep love for art. From childhood sketches to running a handmade gift business, I was always drawn to creating things that sparked connection. That small business taught me more than creativity — it introduced me to iteration, customer experience, and solving real problems for real people.
My academic path led me to a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Autism and Behavioural Science, where I worked closely with children with diverse needs. While the work was meaningful, I found myself longing for a space where I could combine creativity, psychology, and human-centered thinking.
UX design was that space.
Now, as a Post-Graduate UX Design student at Humber College, I bring together art, empathy, and research to create intuitive, inclusive digital experiences. I love thinking visually — often starting with quick sketches or sticky notes to unpack complex problems. I believe in designing with users, not just for them, and value feedback as an essential part of the creative process.
I’m excited to collaborate on meaningful projects that make people feel understood, empowered, and delighted.
